Joseph put in prison

Bible 1
When the Ishmaelite traders arrived in Egypt they sold Joseph as a slave to one of Pharaoh’s officials, Potiphar, a captain of the guard.
Bible 2
Joseph worked hard for his master and was successful in all he did.
Bible 3
Potiphar was impressed and put Joseph in charge of his whole household and all he owned.

Bible 4
The Lord blessed Joseph in all he did. Potiphar didn’t have to worry about anything, apart from what he ate. As he knew he could rely on Joseph to manage everything.
Bible 5
Now Joseph was well-built and handsome. After a while, Potiphar’s wife started admiring his looks and physique. She found it hard to control her feelings for him.
Bible 6
‘Come to bed with me!’ she demanded. Joseph refused. ‘Potiphar trusts me with everything, including you. How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?’

Bible 7
Potiphar’s wife did not give up. Every day she spoke to Joseph but he refused to have an affair with her. He even took steps to avoid going near her.
Bible 8
Then one day, when all the servants were out of the house, Potiphar’s wife made a grab for him. ‘Come to bed with me!’ she insisted.
Bible 9
Joseph struggled out of her grasp and ran out of the house.

Bible 10
Potiphar’s wife was left holding Joseph’s cloak. How would she explain what had happened? She had to think fast.
Bible 11
She called her servants. ‘Joseph tried to seduce me but I screamed and he ran off. Look, he left his cloak beside me.’ She told the same story to Potiphar when he returned home.
Bible 12
Potiphar was furious and ordered that Joseph be put in the prison where the King’s prisoners were confined. Poor, innocent, Joseph was now in jail.

Joseph put in prison
Potiphar puts Joseph in charge of his house but then jails him after his wife makes false accusations.
Genesis 39:1-20
